Chamadumpa Pulusu is a famous Andhra Recipe in which taro root pieces are simmered in a tamarind sauce.Traditionally this stew is made with jaggery,the following recipe is a savory version of it.

6 Taro roots(chamadumpalu)
1/2 cup Onions chopped
2 medium Tomato chopped
1/2 teaspoon Tamarind paste
1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
salt to taste
1 tablespoon oil
1/2 teaspoon methi powder
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 stem curry leaves
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
Procedure:
1.Pressure cook the Taro in water for 3 whistles.Peel and cut them into 1/2 inch slices.
2.In a pan heat the oil and add cumin,mustard and curry leaves and let splutter.

6.Add 3 cups of water, tamarind, garam masala,methi powder, salt and red chili powder and let come to a boil.Add the taro root pieces to the pan and cover with the lid and let cook on high flame for 10 minutes until gravy thickens and turn off the stove.
Tips:
Instead of methi powder you can also put 2 teaspoons of jaggery for a sweet and tangy version of the stew.
